Jeff Buckley – Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk

From Jeff Buckley unfinished work, Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk is so good, and, at the same time, so hard to listen to. Jeff Buckley had planned to go into the studio to record his sophomore album, My Sweetheart the Drunk, in June of 1997. He died in May. Fall in light, fall in light. Fall in light, fall in light Feel no shame for what you are As you now are in your blood Fall in light Feel no shame for what you are Feel no shame for what you are Feel it as a water fall Fall in light, ooh Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light, Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light Grow in light Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing Past the sound within the sound Past the voice within the voice Leave your office Run past your funeral Leave your home, car Leave your pulpit Join us in the streets where we Join us in the streets where we Don’t belong, don’t belong You and the stars Throwing light Fall, fall Fall in light, fall in light. fall in light Fall in light, fall in light fall in light Grow in light

Can’t understand why Sketches has received a lukewarm press, comparing it unfavorably to Grace. True, Jeff never finished these songs, and one can argue the 2nd disc shouldn’t have been included. But, what we have is quite impressive!

@msmichelinariggy It was the Memphis River that he drowned in…

At the beggining you can easily see how Jeff influenced Thom Yorke

@ledzeppelin4485 there are multiple live albums, bootlegs mostly… but jeff was even more-so a beautiful artist without studio fixes.

  9. ledzeppelin4485 says:

@roli369 so you have to be gay to be proud of who you are?

this song’s actually called New Year’s Prayer i’m pretty sure

  11. roli369 says:

I think by saying “Feel no shamefor what you are”, he means being gay.

Anyone with bipolar could watch his interviews and read what friends have said and see it. If he even he told people he had it why wouldn’t people believe him? A person with bipolar feels what everyone else does, just stronger, deeper and for a longer amount of time. The highs can cause accidental deaths by way of wrecklessness. Mood swings, up and down, two different “personalities” Surrounded by shame, it goes undiagnosed and lethal accidents “just happen.” Oh yeah..it’s hereditary..

    @jay33jay he was damned

  19. ScreamingDeaf says:

@jay33jay I was wondering the same thing. And the fact that Jeff could sing like 30 seconds without taking his breath, drowning sounds suspicious and ironic!

  20. msmichelinariggy says:

I suppose my morbid curiosity has gotten the best of me, meanwhile Jeff’s voice resonating in my head hypnotising me to ask the question “How did he really die?”. Everyone has known about his drowning in the Mississippi River, but has anyone really looked any further into his passing? The facts truly point to innocence and greed, truth and lies, love and hate, angels and the devils who kill them.

@jay33jay can you share your hard searching work with me ;p?
would love to hear all those demos…

  22. cinthya133 says:

I would actually spend some to know him just to know how he was like behind his music, when you hear his music it sounds like he had many demons

  23. celery812many says:

    A Master without peer…NO DOUBT!!!

  24. pix00l says:

@jay33jay tbh, he prolly was murdered by the higher ups, but donno what reason it should be… yet :P
