You guys have no idea how crazy it was back? in the 60′s..I was discharged from the USAF back in the early part of 1969 when all of this was ripe..so innocent and full of hope we were..kinda like now..but now not a game..it’s different now because the boomer generation, most of who went on to build lives and families always imagined that thing would fix everything..we grew up and we are now grey but the heart is still like joplin..forever young..

@IxScoreI
LOL, Can’t say growing up as a kid in the 40′s and being bombed by the German Luftwaffe was a great deal of fun, but our generation sure made up for it oue teens – the fifties. Rock & Roll, the pill [ah yes the pill] mini skirts and for a few? – smoking the whacky backy etc. I’m biased of course but I homestly music hasn’t been as good as it was in the fifties in any decade since. Thanks for the reply.

Oh to return to the days where musicians decided where music went, and it wasn’t dictated by recording studios who’s only concern is profit and what sells- not musical content.? I’m glad I’m 72 and lived in the days when.

Thanks for putting this one up. I LOVE this version of this song and unfortunately (or fortunately) I judge all others who sing this song against Janis and none can compete! I love? how she throws herself into her songs.

Ya’ll have no idea? how strong her stage presence was.. I saw her at the Monterey Pop Festival on leave from the US Air Force..didn’t agree with her politics but what a talent..like me she would now be a senior citizen..funny..don’t feel like a senior citizen..oh well, youthful spirit never ever dies..

@crimsomdreams Kris Kristofferson wrote the song, it’s been covered by many but Janis Joplin’s version is probably the most well known and best. Pink just did a version in honor of Janis and she sounds amazingly like her. This is when music was about music not money, or fame. Janis? and many others are icons to the many that loved them for simply the music.
